The age of Risorgimento found in Anacarsi Nardi, born in 1800 in a country hamlet of the Municipality of Licciana Nardi, one of its patriots. During the 1830-31 uprisings, he was summoned to Modena by his uncle, leading the temporary government as Dictator, and was appointed Secretary. After the failure of the revolt, uncle and nephew took refuge in Corfù for some time, then Anacarsi continued his struggle engaging in 1844 in an expedition in the Kingdom of the two Sicilies together with the Bandiera Brothers, with the aim to spread the uprisings also in those lands. The expedition failed, the group was involved in a struggle with the Bourbons' soldiers and the survivors - among them, Anacarsi - were shot in Rovigo, in the Province of Cosenza. In 1910 his remains were moved to Licciana Nardi, where he has been dedicated a monument. In Apella, his hometown, a museum dedicated to Risorgimento and the patriot is under construction.
