Zona del Parco: Traverses

Once you reach Casalino 940m, go beyond the church and take trail Spallanzani (SSP) lightly touching the cemetery and climbing along a carriage road among fields and hedges until it reaches a narrow asphalt road going down on the left to the town of Montecagno 952m (1.00).
Protected from the northern winds by Mt. Rimondatino, it lies at its foot. Once under Piolo, in 1647 S. Margherita Oratory became a parish after a vow to St. Rocco for the plague of 1631. The small church, renovated more than once and also damaged by the 1920 earthquake, preserves a wooden tabernacle ascribed to the famous 18th century sculptor Domenico Ceccati. The town center and Case Rocconi, near the church, still preserve some ancient houses.
